アイスランド取材 ポートレート(1)
次号PAPER SKY#27のため、ルーカスらペーパースカイ取材班が訪ねたのは北欧の国、アイスランド。
取材中のポートレートを、ルーカスのコメント付きで紹介します。
“the top photo is a parade in downtown Reykjavic celebrating Iceland’s first ever Olympic medal- a silver medal for the men’s handball team.”
最初の写真は、首都レイキャビックにて。取材班が遭遇したのは、アイスランド最初のオリンピックメダル（男子ハンドボールチームの銀メダル）を祝うパレード。ちょうど北京オリンピックの開催中のことでした。
“the next photo of me making a silly happy face is a dog painted by one of the members of the band Sigur Ros- the dog’s name is Lukas- same as mine but with a ‘k’ instead of a ‘c’.
I was very happy to find this dog on the wall and by mere coincidence it was erased the next day by the grafitii police.”
次の写真は、塀に描かれた犬の落書きと一緒に。ルーカスが喜んでいるのは、その犬の名前が「Lukas」と書いてあったからです。綴りは一文字違いですが同じ名前！
この落書き、シガー・ロス（アイスランドのバンド）のメンバーの一人が描いもので、この翌日にはもう消されてしまっていたとか。
旅の思い出を深くする、幸運な出会いの一つでした。
the third photo is me poising in a Icelandic High School. This school is home to Bjork, Sigur Ros and Mum- as well as a pleothera of other Icelandic musicians- it was interesting because the old part of the school looks more like a club then a high school.
ビョークやシガー・ロス、マムといったミュージシャンの出身校にて。
「この高校の古い部分は、学校というよりクラブのような雰囲気でおもしろかった」とのこと。確かに写真にある壁の絵、とても不思議な絵ですね・・・。
アイスランド出身のミュージシャンたちのバックグラウンドにも触れる旅。次号特集をどうぞお楽しみに。
